The Origin

After launching in Hamburg, Germany in 2017, HYROX has quickly established itself as the fastest-growing fitness sport on the planet. Participation in 2022 increased by over 100%, and in 2023 will have a forecast of 120,000 participants globally.

Mass Participation

Over 99% of our athletes complete their HYROX race. With no finishing time restriction, and no qualification required to enter, HYROX welcomes every participant with open arms. Your sport is HYROX.

HYROX brings the endurance and functional fitness worlds together in a format that replicates the activities that regular gym-goers do in their workouts. HYROX bridges the gap between traditional long-distance endurance events and generalized functional fitness; it attracts competitive athletes, enthusiasts from all sporting backgrounds and regular gym-goers alike.

It is a race to run at your own pace, with the continuous support of friends, family and fellow participants along the way.

Not only that, but the structure of HYROX eliminates the generic fear of ‘coming last’. Every HYROX race has start waves of all ages happening every 10 minutes throughout the entire day, working through each division. Put simply, this means that a 3-hour athlete can cross the finish line at the very same time as a sub-60 minute athlete!

Founders

HYROX was founded by Christian Toetzke, an industry veteran in the international cycling, marathon and triathlon world, and Moritz Furste, a 3x Olympic Medalist, World Champion and successful entrepreneur.

HYROX has since experienced remarkable growth around the world, with single events seeing up to 12,000 athletes and 10,000 spectators – making the sport of HYROX the world’s largest mass participation Fitness Race.

Global Footprint

Aligned with significant international brand partners, HYROX is now continuing its rapid global expansion plans with over 60 races planned for 2023 in 18 different countries. In 2022 the Google search term HYROX increased by 127%, and it was named in over 50 global Health and Fitness trends articles from independent media.
